In Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park massive Redwoods rise hundreds of feet above native shrubs, ferns and vines to form a primitive forest community. This park, named for the noted pioneer explorer, is well known for its National Tribute Grove and the world famous Stout Tree.

Scotty and his gold mine sprang into promience in 1905 and for 50 years he continued to make his headlines across the nation.
